Description

NEW! Arizona R&B/Latin/Soul CD, "(It) Ain't No Big Thing" by THE JORDAN BROTHERS feat. Esteban "Steve" Jordan 18 tracks on ID Records from 1965. Beautiful package: Digi Pak, 12 page booklet, lots of pictures, extensive notes by John P. Dixon, great ID Stereo sound. La Bamba! In 1965 Steve Jordan and his band, The Jordan Brothers, were living and working in Phoenix, Arizona, headlining the ID Club on South Central Avenue. On stage, night after night they honed their sets of Rock, R&B and Latino hits, with Steve on guitar and vocals and brother Bonifacio on drums and vocals. They developed a large local following. In one 7-hour marathon recording session, they played their best live songs to tape, releasing only one very rare 45 on their ID label that year. In 1967 the group moved to Texas, where Steve would focus more on his accordion and Tejano music for the rest of his career. Over the years Jordan would become world famous, tweaking his button accordion, thinking out of the box, ahead of his contemporaries, using phase shifters, Echoplexes and fuzz boxes. He mastered more than 30 instruments and played all styles of music including Jazz, Rock, Salsa, Blues, Mambo, Country, Tejano and Zydeco. The recordings on this CD are his first, and stand the test of time, packed with 18 Soul and Latino titles, including the group’s rare first disc, “(It) Ain’t No Big Thing” and “La Bamba.” Sixteen songs are heard for the first time in almost sixty years. With quality audio, pictures and notes, this Grande package is a fitting musical tribute to the ID Club, engineer Chuck Hauke and the Phoenix roots of Esteban “Steve” Jordan.
